Johansson serves as a member of the Questionnaire Expert Group for the OECD’s Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS). He sits on the editorial board of the journal Intelligence and is a co-editor of Educational Assessment, Evaluation and Accountability. Additionally, he reviews research proposals for the Swedish Research Council. Johansson mainly supervises doctoral students. He teaches courses on educational assessment, evaluation, measurement quality, and statistics, including instruction in statistical software such as SPSS.
