Guangyin Yuan is a tenured professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and serves as Director of the Biomaterials Research Center. He received his Ph.D. from Southeast University in 1999 and conducted postdoctoral research at SJTU, followed by a JSPS fellowship at Tohoku University, Japan. His primary research focuses on the development of biodegradable metallic materials such as magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), and iron (Fe) alloys for biomedical applications, including orthopedic implants and cardiovascular stents. He also works on surface coatings, biomedical device fabrication, and material-cell interaction mechanisms.
