Michele Chiumenti is a Tenured Professor of Continuum Mechanics and Structural Analysis at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, and a senior researcher at the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE). He also serves as Deputy Director of the Master’s and Doctoral programs in Civil Engineering at UPC. Prof. Chiumenti holds a PhD from UPC and a Civil Engineering degree from Politecnico di Milano. His research focuses on advanced finite element methods, nonlinear thermo-mechanical modeling, and numerical simulation of manufacturing processes, with particular emphasis on metal additive manufacturing, welding technologies, and metal forming applications.
