I completed my Medical Degree (MD) at the University of Athens Medical School in 1994, and consequently completed my clinical specialty training in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism in 2003. During the past decade, I have been able to develop a strong and highly specialized translational research profile. My PhD degree was awarded in 2007. My research activities focus in polycystic ovary syndrome, insulin resistance, adrenals and thyroid and are reflected in numerous publications (96) in international peer-reviewed journals with a citation index of 3,208, with an h-index of 36 (Scopus).

Cairong Li has completed her PhD from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She is an associate researcher in the Centre for Translational Medicine Research & Development at Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research interests include the design and fabrication of multifunctional magnesium-containing bone repair materials and the study of their biological mechanisms. She has published more than 20 papers in internationally recognized journals such as Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, and Nature Communications, which have been cited more than 1000 times. She has received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Song Weidong is director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He is mainly engaged in research on 3D printing, composite material mechanics, advanced materials and structures, impact dynamics, etc. He has published more than 130 papers in well-known domestic and foreign journals, such as “Int. J. Plast.”, “Addit. Manuf.”, and “Int. J. Impact Eng.”, including more than 90 papers included in SCI, 1 highly cited paper, and more than 40 papers included in EI. In 2009, he was nominated for the National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation and in 2010 he was selected into the “New Century Excellent Talent Support Program” of the Ministry of Education. He won 1 second prize in Beijing Science and Technology, 13 authorized patents, 13 software copyrights, and published 2 monographs. He is currently a member of the International Association for Computational Mechanics, a member of the Education and Science Popularization Professional Committee of the Beijing Society of Mechanics, a member of the International Bionic Engineering, a member of the Youth Work Committee of the Chinese Society of Composite Materials, a member of the Porous Materials Branch of the Chinese Society for Materials Research, and a member of the Explosion Mechanics Engineering Structural Safety Protection Professional Group.

Liviu Marsavina is the Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Technological Transfer at University Politehnica Timisoara and corresponding member of Romanian Academy will supervise the project for University Politehnica Timsioara partner. Liviu Marșavina is full professor in Strength of Materials and Fracture Mechanics at University Politehnica Timisoara, Romania. His main research interests are in the field of mechanics of materials, fracture mechanics and structural integrity and durability applied to different materials and structures. He has a relevant experience in evaluation of integrity and durability of components from different type of materials metals, ceramics, polymers, composite materials obtained using classical technologies, or via additive manufacturing. He was Postdoctoral Researcher at Loughborough University (2000), Research Associate at The University of Sheffield (2001 – 2002), invited researcher at Gent University (2006), Most Experienced Marie Curie Researcher at Lublin University of Technology (2007-2008), invited researcher at Slovak Academy of Science (2013) and Invited Lecturer at Universita Politehnica di Catalunia (2001), Universita degli Studi di Cagliari (2001, 2013), Universita degli Studi di Firenze (2005, 2010), Loughnorough University (2005), Beijing University of Civil and Architectures (2017), Lublin University of Technology (2013, 2018) and NTNU Trondheim (2017, 2019).

Farid Akhtar received a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Science and Technology in Beijing, China. He continued the research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Materials Chemistry at Stockholm University with Professor Lennart Bergström. Since 2020, he has been a full Professor of Engineering Materials at the Division of Materials Science, the Luleå University of Technology Sweden. His research focuses on the structuring and processing materials using advanced manufacturing technologies for energy and environmental applications.

Svetlana Ibric is full professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, where she held the position of Vice-Dean of Research and International Cooperation between 2012-2018. Prof. Ibrić is member of the Powder Working Group in European Pharmacopoeia (from 2017) and Committee for marketing authorization of human drugs in the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of Serbia (from 2010). Prof. Ibrić is coordinator of academic specialization in Industrial Pharmacy, as well as head of the Centre of Industrial Pharmacy which brings together members of all pharmaceutical companies in Serbia, regulatory authorities and academia. Prof. Ibrić is founder of the PharmPrintLab at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. She was supervisor of 19 completed PhD theses. Her main research interest is controlled release dosage forms development, 3D printing of dosage forms, application of machine learning tools in product/process optimization and QbD implementation in development of dosage forms and processes.

Patatri Chakraborty is pursuing her PhD in the Chemical & Biological Department at the University at Buffalo. She is currently working on developing the Transient Thermal Barcode (TTB) : A high speed, high thruput technique of plastic sorting using molecular contrast infrared imaging. This project is under the Initiative Of Plastic Recycling Research and Innovation (IPPRI), funded by the Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). Previously she has worked on additive manufacturing and developing 3D printed polymers and composites for various applications. Her work has been published in various journals including Sensors and Actuators A, Sensors and Actuators B, Composites part B: Engineering , Journal of Electrochemical Society, Journal of Material Science and etc.

Waleed Ahmed Associate Professor in the College of Engineering at United Arab Emirates University. He completed his PhD studies at Al-Mustansiriya University in a joint venture with the University of Nottingham. Main interests include 3D printing, renewable energy, nanomaterials, failure analysis, FEA, fracture mechanics, recycling, and composite materials. Awarded the prestigious UAEU Chancellor Innovation Award six times for different categories and awarded the UAEU Chancellor’s Award for Institutional Excellence in 2020 as the Best Innovative Employee. It has more than 112 publications with 1720 citations and an h-index of 20 and 24 US-granted patents.

Lixin Wu received his B. Eng. and M. Eng. in polymer materials from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from The Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He subsequently carried out postdoctoral research in The Pennsylvania State University and the University of California, San Diego from 1999-2002. He worked as a research associate in the Concordia University from 2002-2007, and then worked as a senior scientist at MER Corp. in Tucson, Arizona from 2007-2011. He joined FJIRSM, Chinese Academy of Sciences as a full professor in April 2011. His research focus on 3D printing resins and polymer composites, especially on improvement of mechanical properties, flame retardancy and heat conductivity of polymer materials.

Qingjin Peng received his Ph.D. degree in manufacturing engineering from the University of Birmingham, U.K., in 1998. He is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Manitoba, Canada. He has authored or co-authored more than 300 refereed papers in international journals and conferences. He has served as a committee member for many organizations and conferences. His research interests include digital manufacturing, sustainable additive manufacturing & product development. Dr. Peng is a registered Professional Engineer in Manitoba.

Mahdiyar Shahbazi is a Lecturer at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU University) in Vienna, Austria with over 10 years of experience in the application of sustainable biomaterials (smart biopolymer, composite, and nanoparticles) in the 3D printing process. His primary research goals are directed toward the theoretical and analytical understanding of the changes in Bio-macromolecules and Biomaterials Structures (at the molecular level) through different types of 3D printing systems. He has also worked in the bio-fabrication of materials by Printing Technology (both screening and 3D printing processes) to valorize the 3D printed objectives with enhanced functionality. Concerning 3D printing technology, he has led as principal researcher and coordinator in several successive international projects in this domain. Currently, he works on producing multifunctional 3D/4D printed smart structure. The accomplishments of creating this noteworthy list of research areas are associated with the actual coordination and academics in addition to the industry involvement of Mahdiyar, linking faculty and industry partners from numerous disciplines, and securing considerable research funds. Mahdiyar has published abundant peer-reviewed articles and conference papers and offered broadly at national and international meetings as keynote and invited talks.

Feng Peng is currently the head of Dept. of Civil Eng, mainly engaged in research and teaching on high-performance composite structures, new types of concrete structures, and advanced construction technology. This invitation to serve as a special issue editor for Engineering Structures represents the continuous improvement of the academic influence of our department’s teachers at home and abroad.

Abdollah Saboori is an Associate Professor of Advanced Materials Processing at the Department of Management and Production Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino. His research deals with the correlation between the properties of metallic materials and additive manufacturing processes. In recent years, his scientific activity has focused on alloys and composites produced by metal additive manufacturing processes. Abdollah Saboori was a visiting PhD student at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, and he received a PhD with honours in Materials Science and Technology at the Politecnico di Torino with a thesis on Metal matrix nanocomposites. He is a co-author of more than 110 scientific papers published in scientific journals and conference proceedings

Alireza Moghayedi multidisciplinary expertise and knowledge in Construction Project management and Civil Engineering are developed through 19 years of academic study, research and work experience. He have taught higher education for 12 years at UG and PG levels in six universities. He hold a PhD in Construction Economics and Management, Master in Civil Engineering major in Transportation, Master in Construction Management and Bachelor in Civil Engineering.

Shoukat Alim, mechanical engineer by profession, has amassed over seven years of experience in academia and applied research. His teaching and research interests encompass Advanced Design and Manufacturing, 3D Printing for Thermo-mechanical applications, Energy, and Built-Environment applications, Numerical Modeling and Simulation, Mechanics of Materials, Machine Design, and Renewable Energy Systems, with a focus on environmental sustainability assessment. Dr. Khan has a strong track record in research, with a Google Scholar h-index of 22, an i-10 index of 36, and over 1700 citations. Dr. Shoukat is the author of over 59 published journal articles. Among these, 20 articles are in the top 10% journals of Scopus, including 8 as the first author since 2019.

Sylvester is a senior lecturer and enthusiast researcher at the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). His research interest food product development using 3D food printing technology and currently post as the Head of Program of Food Service at the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, Universiti Malaysia Sabah UMS. He has involved in 3D printing related seminar and exhibition (as an exhibitor) in an academic seminar and representing the University of Queensland as 3D food printing demonstrator to educate and spread the awareness of the novel technology and broadcasted in Channel 10, Australia. He has received his PhD in 2019 from University of Queensland, Australia. His current work involved the investigation of local consumer perception of 3D printing technology and he has published several journal articles in the related field of 3D food printing and was the member of Australian Institute of Food Science and technology (AIFST).

Chamil Abeykoon is an Associate Professor of the Department of Materials at the University of Manchester and he is working mainly with the Aerospace Research Institute and the Northwest Composts Centre, and supervising research students affiliated with the Department of Materials and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UoM. Chamil received the B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2007, with the award of best performance in mechanical engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the Queens University Belfast, U.K., in 2011, with several publications, in which one of his publications received the Young Author Best Paper Award from the IEEE in 2011.

Huang Jin is a second-level professor, doctoral supervisor, and fellow of the Chinese Institute of Electronics. He is currently the executive dean of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the director of the Key Laboratory of Electronic Equipment Structural Design of the Ministry of Education. He was selected into the Shaanxi Province Special Support Plan – Leading Talent in Scientific and Technological Innovation and is the head of the Shaanxi Province Key Scientific and Technological Innovation Team for Electromechanical Coupling of Electronic Equipment.
