Dr Mehmet Karakus is an academic at Coventry University, UK, whose work focuses on improving how whole school communities (students, teachers, and leaders) learn, work, and thrive. His research explores how school environments, teaching practices, and wider social conditions shape wellbeing, motivation, and learning across educational settings. He has published widely in international journals and works with partners across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East on projects that aim to make education more inclusive, equitable, and effective. His work combines data-driven research with collaborative approaches that involve educators, young people, and communities in shaping solutions to real-world challenges. Alongside his research, he teaches postgraduate and doctoral students and supports the development of early-career researchers.
