Bin Duan is a Professor and PhD Supervisor at the School of Control Science and Engineering, Shandong University. His main research interests cover measurement and control of battery energy storage and new energy systems, artificial intelligence and big data applications, intelligent perception, fault diagnosis and safety management.
Focusing on China’s major strategic demands in the new energy storage field, he conducts cutting-edge academic research. He has published over 70 SCI-indexed papers in top international journals including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics (TIE), IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification (TTE) and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (TII). He holds more than 60 granted invention patents from China and the United States, and has contributed to over 10 technical standards (both officially issued and under development). Multiple of his research achievements have been successfully transferred into practical applications, with supporting instruments and equipment developed, manufactured and promoted for wide deployment.
He teaches multiple undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Automatic Control Systems and Embedded Systems, and emphasizes the cultivation of students’ practical and innovative capabilities. He has received a series of prestigious awards, including the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, and the First Prize of the Technological Invention Award from the Ministry of Education of China. He has been selected as a National Young Talent, a Famous Teacher of Curriculum Ideology and Politics by the Ministry of Education, and is included in Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking. His research team has been recognized as a National Huang Danian-Style Teacher Team and a National Innovation Research Group.
