Abstract
Nowadays, artificial intelligence (AI) has gained great momentum in becoming the leading data-driven powerhouse for biomedical and industrial development. With its proposed efficiency appeal to dental practitioners and patients, it can be one of the most influential assets in restorative dentistry. AI applications in computer-aided design/ computer-aided milling (CAD/CAM), dental clinical practice, and related material science are particularly interesting. This study aimed to provide a concise overview of the status of AI-driven technologies in CAD/CAM-based dental processes and materials. A review of the literature shows that artificial intelligence (AI) in digital restorative A review of the literature shows that artificial intelligence (AI) in digital restorative dentistry provides significant benefits across many subtractive restorative design and milling applications. AI enhances the dental restoration process by automating procedures, considering esthetic and occlusal factors, and incorporating previous CAD decisions. It can also predict debonding risks and the impact of material composition on mechanical strength, with ongoing improvements addressing current limitations.
