Xavier Allonas received his PhD in 1995 for his work on photoinduced electron transfer mechanisms at the Department of Photochemistry in Mulhouse, France. He completed a short postdoctoral training at the Institute of Physical Chemistry in Fribourg, Switzerland, focusing on picosecond transient grating spectroscopy. In 1996, he joined the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Mulhouse as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Full Professor at the University of Haute Alsace in 2003. He served as Head of the Laboratory of Macromolecular Photochemistry and Engineering from 2006 to 2022.
