Dr. Maira Fernanda Zambrano Carrillo is a professor, researcher, and international speaker in the fields of occupational health, public health, and occupational toxicology at Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, Colombia. She holds a PhD with honors in Clinical Medicine and Public Health, a Master’s degree in Occupational Risk Prevention, a specialization in Quality Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Bacteriology and Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
Her scientific work focuses on human biomonitoring, toxicological surveillance, and the assessment of occupational exposure to hazardous chemical substances, with particular emphasis on the use of exposure and effect biomarkers for the early detection of adverse health outcomes among exposed workers. Her research integrates occupational toxicology, epidemiological surveillance, and preventive public health approaches aimed at strengthening worker health protection in industrial and agricultural settings.
Dr. Zambrano Carrillo has led and participated in research and academic initiatives related to occupational biomonitoring, pesticide exposure, industrial toxicology, and workplace health surveillance. She is the author and co-author of scientific publications, books, and academic contributions in indexed journals and has been invited as a speaker at national and international scientific events focused on occupational health, biomonitoring, toxicology, and public health.
Recognized for her interdisciplinary and translational approach, her work contributes to advancing evidence-based strategies for the prevention, early detection, and management of occupational chemical exposure risks in complex work environments.
