Dr. Andrija Bernik is an Associate Professor at the University North, University Center Varaždin, Croatia, within the Department of Multimedia. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Sciences from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics, where his doctoral research focused on the application of gamification in higher education. Over his academic career, Dr. Bernik has developed and taught numerous undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level courses, including Gamification of Communication, 3D Modelling, Video Animation, 3D Modelling for Video Games, Animation for Video Games, Production of Video Games, and Augmented and Virtual Reality. As a mentor, he has guided dozens of students through professional practice and diploma theses, fostering innovation and practical skills in multimedia and digital technologies.

His research and teaching interests cover a wide range of interdisciplinary fields such as 3D modeling, animation, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, gamification, and game-based learning. Dr. Bernik is highly skilled in software tools including Autodesk Maya, Unity game engine, and procedural environment creation tools such as Vue xStream, as well as in empirical research and data analysis using SPSS. He has a proven track record of academic leadership, managing over six university courses each year with more than 200 enrolled students, and has mentored over 80 students to date.

Dr. Bernik’s scholarly contributions include over 50 peer-reviewed scientific and professional publications, as well as authorship of a scientific monograph and co-authorship of three revised university textbooks. His active participation in national and international conferences reflects his commitment to advancing research and collaboration across the global academic community. He is fluent in English and regularly engages in interdisciplinary projects and scholarly discussions.

Recognized for his rigorous research methodology, dedication to academic excellence, and passion for educational innovation, Dr. Bernik’s primary research interests lie at the intersection of emerging technologies and learning environments, with a focus on enhancing user experience and pedagogical effectiveness through gamification and immersive technologies. Beyond academia, he enjoys sports such as snowboarding, hiking, and e-sports, reflecting a well-rounded personality with creative and analytical balance. He is listed in the Register of Researchers of the Republic of Croatia (No. 365983) and continues to contribute significantly to the growth of digital education and multimedia research in Croatia and beyond.
