Makoto Matsui is a distinguished researcher in high-temperature gas dynamics, plasma diagnostics, and space propulsion systems. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 2005 and now serves as a Professor at Shizuoka University. He is affiliated with the Graduate School of Integrated Science and Technology and the Research Institute of Green Science and Technology. His research focuses on laser and plasma-based diagnostics, Hall thrusters, and advanced propulsion using CO₂ for Mars transport. He has published over 120 scientific works, including a recent book chapter on diode laser-sustained plasma propulsion. Professor Matsui frequently collaborates with JAXA, advancing both aerospace applications and green energy solutions.
