Dr. Lisardo Boscá is a distinguished Research Professor at the National Spanish Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC), Spain. With an extensive and impactful career spanning over three decades, Dr. Boscá has made significant contributions to the fields of inflammation biology, immunometabolism, and cardiovascular research. His work focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate inflammation—from its initiation to its resolution—and how these processes influence the pathophysiology of chronic diseases.
Over the past decade, Dr. Boscá’s research has centered on elucidating the intricate relationship between metabolic regulation and immune cell function, particularly in macrophages. His groundbreaking 2010 publication in The Journal of Immunology, which has been cited more than 700 times, described the metabolic reprogramming that underlies macrophage polarization from a pro-inflammatory to an anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving phenotype. This seminal work has had a profound influence on the understanding of immunometabolism and its role in disease modulation.
Throughout his career, Dr. Boscá has led multiple research projects funded by national and international agencies, contributing to advancements in therapeutic strategies for cardiovascular and inflammatory disorders. His investigations integrate biochemistry, molecular biology, and systems-level approaches to identify key signaling pathways that control immune cell activation and resolution of inflammation.
Dr. Boscá has published extensively in leading peer-reviewed journals and has delivered numerous invited lectures at international conferences and academic institutions worldwide. His work continues to bridge basic scientific discovery with clinical relevance, advancing the understanding of inflammation as a central mechanism in human health and disease.
Beyond his scientific achievements, Dr. Boscá is also an active mentor, guiding doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in the pursuit of innovative studies in molecular medicine and immunology. His leadership and commitment to collaborative science have established him as a respected figure within the global biomedical research community
