Pouyan Ghabezi earned his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in manufacturing and production, from the University of Tehran, Iran in 2017. His doctoral research focused on experimental-numerical modeling to assess the strength of nano-composite adhesive joints. Subsequently, in 2019, he commenced his postdoctoral research at the University of Galway, concentrating on the degradation of composites as part of the Decay project (Icomp funded). Dr. Pouyan Ghabezi, currently an assistant professorlecturer above the bar in mechanical engineering at the University of Galway (2023), recently finished a three-year MSCA project called 3DRecComp. This Enterprise Ireland-funded project, which started in 2020, centered on the development and recycling of waste polymers and composites for 3D printing of composite materials. The University of Galway served as the projects host. Pouyan is supervising and collaborating in some national and international projects such as a DTIF project MI-DRONE, addressing consumer demand for efficient last-mile delivery, and an ESA-funded project focused on developing a selective metallization technique for 3D printed RF components. Pouyans main research interests are designing and developing advanced manufacturing systems and methods in composite materials such as additive manufacturing. He has collaborated with a wide range of universities, research centers, and industries in Ireland and overseas.
