Udi Qimron is a Professor of Microbiology at Tel Aviv University, where he studies the evolutionary and molecular interactions between bacteria and bacteriophages. His research focuses on phage biology, bacterial defense systems, and the development of phage-based strategies to combat antibiotic-resistant infections. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of CRISPR-mediated immunity, particularly the mechanisms of spacer acquisition, and has advanced the engineering and evolution of bacteriophages for therapeutic applications. Qimron has received competitive funding, including grants from the European Research Council (ERC). His research articles and commentaries have been published in leading scientific journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell.
