Despoina Pantazi is a distinguished biochemist who graduated from the University of Ioannina in Greece, where she earned her Master’s degree in 2003 and PhD in 2008 in Biochemistry. Since 2018, she has been serving as permanent academic staff (LTS Class A) in the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, UOI, and since 2021 she has also been a partner at the Atherothrombosis Research Center within the university’s Network of Research Support Laboratories. Her academic contributions include teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Clinical Chemistry, Biochemistry Laboratory, and Medical Chemistry until 2023. She has actively engaged in international research collaboration, including a scientific visit in 2024 to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain. Throughout her career, she has received multiple fellowships and awards, participated in numerous research programs, and contributed extensively to scientific literature with over 80 conference abstracts, several peer-reviewed publications, and co-authorship of two books. She has supervised multiple undergraduate and postgraduate theses and currently oversees ongoing master’s research projects. Additionally, she plays an active role in the scientific community as a reviewer, editorial board member, invited speaker, and organizer of webinars, while also contributing to various Greek and international scientific organizations and committees related to biochemistry, thrombosis, and atherosclerosis research.
