Dr. Andreia C. M. Rodrigues is an Assistant Researcher at CESAM and the Department of Biology, University of Aveiro. She has built a multidisciplinary research career at the interface of ecotoxicology and environmental health, aquaculture and food safety. A significant part of her work has been dedicated to sustainable aquaculture, particularly in fish nutrition, bivalve depuration, product quality, and animal welfare. She has contributed to projects that optimize depuration processes and nutrition regimes, enhance monitoring and decontamination systems, and translate physiological and biochemical biomarkers into operational decision-support tools for producers. Building on technology transfer and community-based aquaculture initiatives in less-developed countries, she brings to the committee a pragmatic, innovation-driven perspective on aquaculture technology and sustainable production, with a strong emphasis on biosensor-enabled surveillance and risk reduction. This combination of scientific and applied experience gives her a valuable perspective on how research can support resilient, safe, and socially relevant aquaculture systems.
