Simon James Fong is a faculty member in the Department of Computer and Information Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau, Taipa, Macau SAR, China. His research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, explainable AI (XAI), medical image analysis, data mining, and intelligent healthcare systems. His work focuses on developing trustworthy and interpretable AI models for clinical decision support, particularly in cancer imaging and precision medicine.
Fong has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and conferences. His recent research, “Explainability and Trust in Deep Learning for Cancer Imaging: Systematic Barriers, Clinical Misalignment, and a Translational Roadmap,” explores the challenges of integrating explainable AI into clinical practice and proposes strategies for improving the transparency and reliability of AI-based healthcare solutions.
He continues to collaborate with researchers and healthcare professionals worldwide to advance innovative AI technologies for medical imaging, precision medicine, and intelligent healthcare applications.
