Abstract:
Forty-three scientists from five continents, leading international experts in the
toxicology of pesticides and pollutants, and in environment and health, have come
together recently, just publishing in a scientific journal “Environmental Sciences
Europe” (Impact Factor 6.6). It denounces the general fraud and malpractice in
current regulatory assessments of toxic substances, which lead to a deleterious
global food supply. This results in nervous, hormonal, and immunological diseases,
cancers, as well as increasing poverty; all of which contribute to the destruction of life
on Earth. The known errors of the economic system generate poor plant, animal, and
human health by promoting the intensive model, intentionally underestimating the
toxicity of pesticides and plasticizers, derived from petroleum.
The spread of pollutants in our bodies and throughout the ecosystem is based on
regulatory falsification that omits all the compositions and does not study the long-term
effects of authorized products, while altering the information provided to populations.
Thus, all the pesticides studied contain petroleum waste with undeclared heavy metals,
a common practice since their existence. This amplifies their toxicity several thousand
times, including for plastics.
We propose simple solutions: a division by at least one hundred of the regulatory
toxicity thresholds of pollutants, as well as transparency of agency data, instead of the
confidentiality that covers these uses. Furthermore, the development of agroecological
practices is more than essential for the biosphere, our food, and our future.
