Abstract

The soft glass based optical fibers are receiving remarkable attention for various sensing and nonlinear applications due to their significant advantageous features like wide infrared transmission, high refractive index and many others. We recently investigated the various propagation dynamics such as dispersion, effective area and nonlinearity coefficient with variation of operating wavelengths of soft glass based Germanate-Tellurite Composite Fibers having step, triangular and parabolic refrative index profiles in their structures. In such fibers, we noticed different unique propagation characteristics than that of silica based fibers. Moreover, as optical fiber systems are considerably affected by the presence of dip in refractive index profiles of the fiber structure, such study of propagation characteristics of the fibers having possible dips in different refractive index profiles is very much important for system designers. In our prvious works on silica based fibers, we reported how fiber amplifier performances are influenced by the possible imperfections or dips in their refractive index profile distributions. So, attention will be focused on different propagation characteristics of Germanate-Tellurite Composite Fibers with various refractive index profiles. In addition, the work will be extended to predict the propagation characteristics analysis considering the possible imperfections in the refractive index profiles of such fibers.

Biography

Dr. Sanchita Pramanik is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics at Vidyasagar University, India. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Calcutta. Her research interests include fiber optics, photonic crystal fibers, nonlinear fiber optics, specialty optical fibers, and optical fiber biosensors. She has served as the Principal Investigator of three sponsored research projects. She has published several research papers in reputed international journals and conference proceedings and has been awarded two national patents in optical fiber technology and smart electronic systems.
