Dr. Tao Dong is a distinguished professor, researcher, and academic leader in the fields of BioMEMS, micro/nano sensing technologies, MEMS sensors, and intelligent microsystems. He currently holds the position of Chair Professor, serves as Vice Dean of the School of Instrument Science and Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University, and is a doctoral supervisor. He is also affiliated with the State Key Laboratory of Precision Micro-Nano Manufacturing Technology and has been recognised by the Chinese Government as a National-Level Leading Talent.

Born in January 1978, Dr. Dong earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, where he graduated with outstanding academic achievements and received several prestigious honours during his studies. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral research in Ordnance Science and Technology.

In addition to his scientific publications, Dr. Dong has authored academic monographs published by internationally renowned presses, including Elsevier and Springer Nature. He also holds more than 20 international patents across China, Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States, in areas related to biosensors, microfluidics, sensing technologies, and intelligent systems.

Dr. Dong has played an active role in the international academic community. He has served as a Program Committee member, Technical Committee member, and Session Chair for several prestigious IEEE and international conferences, including IEEE ICMLA, IEEE EMBS, Mechatronika, and the Transducers conferences.

His dedication to education and research has earned him numerous honours and awards, including the “Top Ten Young Scientists of Chongqing”, the Chongqing Innovation and Progress Award, and multiple international research excellence awards in China.
