Biography :

Dr. Carlos Alejandro López Lima is a highly accomplished Cuban medical professional, researcher, and academic with extensive experience in primary health care, vulnerable populations, and public health management. Born on September 29, 1972, he earned his Medical Degree from the “Dr. Salvador Allende” Faculty of Medical Sciences in Havana between 1991 and 1997. He later completed his specialization in Comprehensive General Medicine and achieved the title of 2nd Degree Specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Primary Health Care and serves as an Associate Researcher at the Medical Sciences Institute in Havana.

Dr. López Lima currently serves as the Head of the Department of Vulnerable Populations at PROSALUD and has held several important leadership positions within Cuba’s healthcare system, including Director of the University Polyclinic “19 de Abril” and official of the National Department of Primary Health Care of MINSAP. His international medical missions in Venezuela and Mali further reflect his commitment to global public health and community medicine.

An Assistant Professor and active member of SOCUMEFA and the National Group of Primary Health Care, Dr. López Lima has contributed significantly to medical education and research. He has organized and taught numerous workshops on gender equality, health indicators, and violence prevention in healthcare settings. He is also an editorial board member of the Cuban Journal of Family Medicine and the North American Journal of Family and Community Medicine. Throughout his distinguished career, he has participated in several international congresses and scientific events related to family medicine, public health, and higher medical education.
