Dr. Lihong Fan, MD, PhD, is a Professor, Senior Chief Physician (Grade II), and Doctoral Supervisor at Xi’an Jiaotong University, serving in the Department of Orthopaedics at The Second Affiliated Hospital, Xi’an, China. He also serves as Deputy Director of the Operation & Management Office. Recognized as a National-Level Clinical Scientist (Grade III), Dr. Fan has established an outstanding reputation in orthopaedic surgery, regenerative medicine, and translational research. His research focuses on minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, tendon repair, osteonecrosis treatment, joint preservation, biomaterials, exosome-based therapies, and tissue engineering. He has developed several innovative arthroscopic surgical techniques and advanced biomaterial-based regenerative therapies, including miRNA-engineered exosomes and injectable hydrogel systems. As Principal Investigator, he has secured three National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grants and holds two Chinese invention patents. Dr. Fan has published more than 45 SCI-indexed research articles in leading journals, achieving an H-index of 24. He has successfully supervised numerous PhD and master’s students and actively contributes to the scientific community as a reviewer for prestigious journals, including Bone, Acta Biomaterialia, Stem Cell Research & Therapy, and Arthroscopy Techniques. His work continues to advance innovative surgical techniques and regenerative therapies aimed at improving patient outcomes in orthopaedic medicine.
