Abstracts

Mixed method research design was adopted. Data was collected from 25 samples in qualitative strand & 150 samples (i.e.) people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in quantitative strand (ART) Centre, Gadag. Data was collected from 01/12/2022 to 30/11/2023. CCP was developed based on findings of qualitative strand & tested in quantitative strand along with administration of 20mg zinc as oral supplementation.  Follow up was done after 6 months and post test after 01 year of the study to find it’s the effectiveness.

Results:

The software used for qualitative analysis was QDA Miner lite 3.0. The phenomenon emerged was “Distorted state of existence amalgamated with frequent episodes of positivity, optimism and Support through acceptance & counselling, as a HOPE to lead life with dignity”. The software used for quantitative data analysis was SPSS.21.0 software. H1 is accepted & H2 is accepted at 5% level.

Interpretation and Conclusion:

Overall findings showed that 06 themes & 26 sub-themes emerged in phenomenology of PLHIV. Oral supplementation of zinc 20mg per day & comprehensive counselling programme was found to be effective at 5% level. The QUALI & QUANTI strands converged in physical, physiological, psychological, social, emotional & financial aspect of health of PLHIV.
