Paolo Izzo, MD, PhD, is a general surgeon with a strong academic and clinical background. He earned his MD with honors from Sapienza University of Rome. He completed his General Surgery specialization at the same institution, followed by a PhD in Advanced Technologies in Surgery, awarded with distinction. His training includes an international research and clinical experience at King’s College London under the mentorship of Prof. Michael Douek.
He has served within the ASL Roma 6 healthcare system, initially as a freelance physician and subsequently as an Attending Physician in Emergency Medicine and Trauma Surgery, before assuming his current role as Attending Surgeon in General Surgery. Alongside clinical practice, Dr. Izzo is actively involved in medical education, holding teaching appointments in Human Anatomy at UniCamillus (Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences) and at Sapienza University of Rome.
He is the author of an extensive body of peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, with research interests spanning general and oncologic surgery, diagnostic imaging, and translational surgical technologies.
