Prof. Mohsen Sharifpur is a Full Professor and Head of the Thermofluids Division at the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), South Africa. He also serves as an Extraordinary Professor and Head of the Nanofluids Research Laboratory at the University of Pretoria, where he previously established one of Africa’s most productive research groups in nanofluids and advanced heat transfer. His research spans nanofluids, convective heat transfer, multiphase flow, thermal–fluid modelling, and the development of constant-temperature surfaces. He is also the originator of the Sink and Source Theory, a novel cosmological framework proposed as a potential alternative to the Big Bang theory. Prof. Sharifpur has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications, co-edited an Elsevier book on nanofluid applications, and has been consistently ranked among the top 2% of most highly cited researchers globally. He has supervised over 30 postgraduate students, serves on several editorial boards, and is frequently invited to deliver keynote and plenary lectures at international conferences. Prof. Sharifpur is the Chair of the Scientific Committee for the 14th South African Conference on Computational and Applied Mechanics (SACAM 2025), where he plays a leading role in advancing computational and applied mechanics research within the region
