He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2021, where his work began to bridge natural product chemistry with advanced sensor
development. He is currently a full-time lecturer and researcher in the Department of Chemistry at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. His multidisciplinary research integrates chemistry, biotechnology, and materials science to address challenges in food safety, health diagnostics, and environmental monitoring. Dr. Rahman focuses on the design and fabrication of chemical, biosensing, and optical sensor platforms, particularly for detecting biogenic amines, key indicators of food spoilage and toxicity. His work emphasizes sustainable innovation, including the development of electrochemical sensor substrates from renewable materials such as bamboo-derived lignin, nanocellulose, and bio-based polymers. To enhance sensor performance, he incorporates enzyme-based bioreceptors for improved sensitivity and selectivity, enabling reliable, low-cost, and eco-friendly analytical tools suitable for laboratory and field applications.
His academic foundation includes a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, where heconducted extensive research on bioactive compounds from medicinal plants in Indonesia and Malaysia, contributing to pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical product development.
Dr. Rahman is highly skilled in chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, supported by chemometric modelling for robust data interpretation. He has secured multiple national and international research grants, published extensively in high-impact journals, presented at international conferences, and serves as a reviewer for leading scientific journals. Driven by sustainability and public health goals, he aims to advance green sensor technologies that are accessible, affordable, and impactful, particularly for developing regions.

["post-5111","committee","type-committee","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry

Muhammad Abdurrahman Munir | Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) | Malaysia

<meta name="description" content="Dr. Rahman is a pharmaceutical scientist specializing in chemical analysis and advanced sensor development.
