Abstract
Tatiana Turini conducted a study focused on facial rejuvenation of the periorbital region through lower blepharoplasty using orbicularis oculi muscle transposition. The research addressed age-related changes such as volume loss, tissue laxity, and alterations in facial light–shadow relationships that contribute to a fatigued appearance. This retrospective observational study included 150 patients treated between 2014 and 2025 in private and public medical institutions in Brasília, Brazil. The surgical approach emphasized volumetric restoration of the pretarsal region rather than traditional tissue excision. Patient outcomes were evaluated through clinical records and FACE-Q satisfaction with eyes assessments before and after surgery. The results demonstrated significant improvements in patient satisfaction, self-image, aesthetic perception, and periorbital harmony, with postoperative scores markedly higher than preoperative evaluations. The study concluded that orbicularis oculi muscle transposition is a safe, reproducible, and effective lower blepharoplasty technique that provides natural rejuvenation outcomes with low complication rates and high patient satisfaction.
