Dr. Marian Grigoraș is a Senior Scientific Researcher (CS II) at the National Institute of Research and Development for Technical Physics (IFT Iași), Romania. He received his Ph.D. in Physics in 2006 and has more than two decades of research experience in magnetism, nanotechnology, and advanced magnetic materials. His research focuses on the design, synthesis, processing, and characterization of nanostructured magnetic materials, including rare-earth-free permanent magnets, metastable iron nitrides, magnetic nanoparticles, thin films, ribbons, powders, and bulk nanocomposites. His expertise spans the complete development cycle of magnetic materials, from materials design and processing to advanced structural and magnetic characterization, with particular emphasis on understanding the relationships between microstructure, interfaces, and magnetic performance. Dr. Grigoraș established new research directions at IFT Iași in the fields of rare-earth-free permanent magnets and metastable iron nitride magnetic materials. His current research explores interface engineering, hierarchical magnetic architectures, and metastable phases as strategies for developing next-generation permanent magnets. He is also actively involved in the development of multifunctional magnetic nanomaterials for biomedical and environmental applications, including magneto plasmonic nanostructures with antimicrobial activity. He has coordinated several nationally funded research projects and has participated in numerous national and international collaborative research initiatives. His scientific output includes more than 80 papers published in peer-reviewed international journals, several book chapters, and multiple patent applications, with more than 750 independent citations. He serves as a reviewer for leading journals in materials science and magnetism, including Materials & Design, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, IEEE Magnetics Letters, Nanomaterials, and the Journal of Rare Earths. Through his research and collaborations, he continues to contribute to the advancement of nanomaterials and magnetic technologies for energy, biomedical, and sustainable applications.
