Italian professor Vittorio Colizzi of the Tor Vergata University in Rome poses after receiving the Golden Laurel Twig, the highest order of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, in Sofia, 23 October 2007. Colizzi was awarded because of his joint scientific work with the French co-discoverer of the HIV virus, Luc Montagnier, on the case of the six Bulgarian medical workers who were blamed of infecting Libyan children with the AIDS virus. Their report concluded that the infection at the hospital resulted from poor hygiene and re-use of syringes, and that the infections began before the arrival in 1998 of the Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian-born doctor and prove that they were “innocent” of the charges pressed against them by Libya

Zakia Hossain is a Health Sociologist and a Demographer. She is a recipient of AusAID and Rockefeller Foundation Fellowships. Her major research and teaching is in the areas of Health Sociology, Health and globalisation, International Health and Chronic diseases, research methods and statistics. The PhD thesis’ she has supervised examines, Chronic diseses, such as Breast cancer awareness and breast screening, Cervical cancer and screening, Cancer survivors and quality of life, Diabetes management, Stigma and HIV/AIDS; Media, HIV/AIDS education and young people; Acculturation and health and wellbeing, . She has presented her research work in Global Health Conference, Washington DC, World Congress of Gerontology, World Congress of Sociology, Asia Pacific Sociological Association and The Australian Sociological Aassociation.

Kazuhiko Yamamoto graduated from the University of Tokyo School of Medicine in 1977. After finishing his training and residency in internal medicine and rheumatology, he conducted basic research in Tokyo and Heidelberg. In 1985, he started his own research projects. He then moved to Medical Institute of Bioregulation, Kyushu University as a professor. In 1997, he was promoted to be the professor and chairman of Department of Allergy and Rheumatology, the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine. In 2017, he reached the mandatory retirement age of the University of Tokyo and moved to RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences. In 2020, he become the director. Dr. Yamamoto’s research interests include genetic and functional genetic analyses of autoimmune diseases. He is now planning to establish a research system of human immunology in the research center.

Maurizio Salvadori degreed  in Florence by 1968 at the University of Florence.  By 1971 became assistant professor at the Renal Unit of Careggi University Hospital in Florence and was nominated Professor of Nephrology at the University of Florence. By 1991, with the beginning of the transplant activity he was nominated chief of the Renal Transplant Department. He specialized in Endocrinology, Clinical Immunology and Nephrology. Over the last 20 years he focused his clinical and scientific interest on new immunosuppressive drugs in transplantation. He took part to several international trials often being the top enroller and the first name in the international published papers. Among these, he studied on enteric coated mycophenolate sodium and FTY 720 both published in the American Journal of Transplantation. Recently he studied on everolimus, published on Transplantation. Professor Salvadori is author of more than 700 papers and contributions published on pub med often in co-operation with international colleagues. Recently professor Salvadori left the clinical activity because of age and Italian law, but he is still member of the Renal Transplant Department and is teaching professor of Nephrology at the University of Florence. He is member of the European Society of Organ Transplantation, the European Society of Nephrology, of the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Nephrology, and of the International Society of Transplantation and the International Society of Nephrology. Recently was nominated Italian member of the team for the new European Guidelines for Kidney Transplantation. The results of this work have been published on the European Journal of Nephrology and Transplantation. He is the person in charge for research on nephrological rare disease for the Tuscany Region. To date is editor in chief of World Journal of Transplantation and Expert reviewer for the Transplant Library, assistant editor to the Journal of Renal and Hepatic Disorders, member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Nephrology, member of the directory Board of Archives of Nephrology

Salah Eldin Hussein is a Consultant, General Pediatrics at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City since July 2007.He graduated with an MBBS from the Faculty of Medicine, Khartoum University in 1991.  In 1993, he obtained his MD in Pediatrics from the same university.  Dr. Salah obtained his Diploma of Child Health from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, Glasgow in 1998.  He was then become a Member and Fellow of the Royal College of Pediatric and Child Health, UK in 2003 and 2012 respectively.  In 2015, Dr. Salah was certified by the American Board of Medical Quality (CMQ), and become a Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) in 2016.  Dr. Salah also completed a Health Informatics Course from Oregon University, USA in 2018.  Dr. Salah has published numerous papers either as author and co-author.Dr. Salah is also the Project and Physician Manager at Abudhabi Health Research Center where he currently leads various clinical trials being conducted in the Center.  He was one of the sub-investigators of various research studies related to Covid-19. Dr. Salah’s various interests includes childhood issues, clinical trials, and Medical Education.

Dongho Kim has an extensive background in microbiology and molecular biology, beginning with a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin (1989-1995). Following this, they pursued postdoctoral research at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope (COH) from 1996 to 1997, later becoming a Beckman Fellow (1998-2000) and subsequently serving as a staff scientist in the Molecular Biology department at COH (2001-2004). Dr. [Your Name] then took on the role of Director of the RNAi Core in the Department of Molecular Medicine at COH from 2004 to 2005. Transitioning into the biotech industry, they founded Cellonex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in California (2005-2006) and later established Genolution Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Seoul, Korea, where they served as CEO/CTO from 2006 to 2017. In addition to their entrepreneurial ventures, Dr. [Your Name] contributed to the scientific community as the Chairman of the Korean Nucleic Acid Society from 2012 to 2015.
