Drawing on several years of home-based caregiving experience and leadership of the medical department at Love Matters Most, this presentation examines how structured nutritional support, when integrated into daily caregiving routines, strengthens adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART), improves immune reconstitution, and enhances overall quality of life for people living with HIV\/AIDS (PLHIV). Observations from community-based care settings show that clients receiving consistent dietary counseling alongside medical and psychosocial support demonstrate better weight stability, fewer opportunistic infections, and stronger engagement with treatment regimens compared to those receiving medical care alone. Key practical strategies discussed include locally accessible, protein- and micronutrient-rich meal planning, caregiver-led nutrition education tailored to household resources, and close coordination between caregivers, clinicians, and nutritionists to identify early signs of wasting or deficiency. The presentation also addresses barriers frequently encountered in low-resource, home-based settings, such as food insecurity, stigma affecting dietary disclosure, and limited access to nutrition specialists, and proposes caregiver-driven, low-cost interventions to bridge these gaps. By centering nutrition as a core pillar of holistic HIV\/AIDS care rather than an adjunct service, this work argues for stronger integration of nutritional assessment and support into community caregiving frameworks, ultimately contributing to improved long-term health outcomes and dignity for people living with HIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Biography:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Washington Ayub Odero holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Psychology and currently serves as a home-based caregiver and Head of the Medical Department at Love Matters Most (LOMAMO Foundation, Kenya).
