Has a strong background in energy and environmental economics, quantitative economics, macroeconomic modeling, and policy analysis. He has carried out research and consultancy work on environmental and economic development issues in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, South Korea, the Middle East, and China and sustained his position as one of the top 2% of Scientists in the world since 2022 at Stanford University in the USA. His current research interests are broadly clustered in the areas of environmental and electrochemical technologies. He is particularly interested in developing electrochemical techniques for removal\/degradation\/remediation of pollutants, monitoring\/abatement of toxic air pollutants, resource recovery, fabrication of electrodes\/sensors, and proton exchange membrane fuel cells. Prof. Huang has participated in the scientific committee of several conferences and associations and serves as a reviewer in a wide range of international renowned journals and for grant proposals of some institutes in different countries. He is an author or a co-author of more than 105 papers in SCIE journals (H-index: 30 from Google Scholar and 29 from Scopus in 2025). He has been on the editorial board of Processes (Section Board for Environmental and Green Processes) since 2021. He also served as a guest editor for some special issues of two SCI journals (Environmental Science and Pollution Research and International Journal of Hydrogen Energy).
