Noura S. Alnuaimi is a PhD candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Center for Biotechnology at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE, working under the supervision of Prof. Habiba Alsafar. Her doctoral research uses single-nucleus RNA sequencing to identify genes driving endothelial dysfunction in diabetic adipose tissue, prioritizing candidates conserved across human single-cell datasets and functionally validating their causal role through immunofluorescence and siRNA knockdown in endothelial cells. Her work spans two complementary mouse models of metabolic disease, in collaboration with researchers at KU Leuven, and integrates pathway enrichment and cross-species concordance analysis to translate transcriptomic findings into functionally validated targets. She is broadly interested in vascular biology, single-cell genomics, and translational approaches to diabetic vascular complications.
