• Ren-Wang Peng is a Professor and Principal Investigator at the Inselspital, University Hospital of Bern, and Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern.

• His research is focused on thoracic malignancies especially lung cancer and mesothelioma. He studies mechanisms of therapeutic resistance, cancer stem cells, and works on translational strategies to improve treatments.

Magda Gioia is an Associate Professor (Professoressa di II fascia) in the field of General Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry (05/E1) at the Dipartimento di Scienze Cliniche e Medicina Traslazionale, University of Rome “Tor Vergata” (Università degli Studi di Roma “Tor Vergata”) in Italy.

Priscilla Barbosa Sales de Albuquerque is a Brazilian academic and researcher specializing in biochemistry and biotechnology. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine from Faculdade Santa Emília de Rodat (2009), a master’s degree in Biological Sciences with emphasis in Biotechnology from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) (2013), and a PhD in Applied Biology to Health through UFPE in collaboration with University of Minho (Portugal).

Sri Rahayu has completed his Master at the age of 32 years from Faculty of Medicine, Universitas
Indonesia, Indonesia. She is now lecturer of Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and
Sciences, Universitas Negeri Jakarta and also Secretary of The International Office of Universitas
Negeri Jakarta, Indonesia. She has published more than 38 papers in reputed journals with more than
140 citations. She also has been serving as an editorial board member of reputable local journals as
well as reviewers of some international journals.

Johnjoe Mcfadden is Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Surrey. His principal research ranges from molecular genetics to microbiology, systems biology and quantum biology. He was one of the pioneers of applying systems biology techniques to bacterial-host interactions, particularly in tuberculosis, leprosy and meningococcal disease. His recent interests include quantum biology and he set up the world’s first Doctoral Training Centre for Quantum Biology at the University of Surrey where he is currently the Centre’s Director. His work earned him the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award in 2014 and has generated practical outputs such as the world’s first commercialized PCR test. He is also a popular science writer and wrote the book “Quantum Evolution” in 2000, co-edited ‘Human Nature: Fact and Fiction’ in 2006; and is co-author, with Jim Al-Khalili, of the book, “Life on the Edge: The Coming Age of Quantum Biology published in 2014 and shortlisted for the Royal Society Book Prize. His latest book, ‘Life is Simple” about the role of Occam’s Razor in science, was described by Astrophysicist and science writer, Paul Davies as “one of the best science books I have read in a decade”.

Thierry obtained his primary degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology (MSc) at the University of Clermont-Ferrand in France in 1982. In 1986 he completed his PhD in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Montpellier II. The following year he was awarded the Certificat d’Etudes Supérieures (CES) in Human Biology in Clinical and Experimental Oncology, from the Paris-Sud Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Qiao is a Principal Research Fellow at the Storr Liver Centre and an Adjunct Professor of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, the University of Sydney. He leads a research group in the Storr Liver Centre working on liver cancer and chronic liver diseases (e.g., MAFLD) with a focus on the roles of cancer stem cells in the pathogenesis of liver cancer and therapy development. His group has generated liver biobank containing primary tissues from various liver diseases and biomaterials derived from the tissues (e.g., organoids). Dr. Qiao holds senior editorial roles in multiple international journals (e.g., Specialty Chief Editor for Front Oncol; Associate Editor for Therapeutic Advances in Medical Oncology; Senior Editor for Cancer Letters; Co-Chief Editor for Current Stem Cell Research & Therapy; consulting editor for Pharmacological Research, etc). Dr. Qiao has authored >220 articles in peer-reviewed journals including in Cell, J Hepatol, Hepatology, Gut, Mol Cancer, Cancer Res, Cancer Letts, BBA Rev on Cancer, and Adv Drug Deliv Rev. His h-index is 63. He is listed since 2022 as one of the most highly cited and world’s top 2% scientist in the field of Oncology, Gastroenterology and Hepatology).

Ning Chen, PhD majored in Biochemistry and Donghu Scholar Leading Talent Program distinguished professor, is a PhD student advisor and a Hubei Provincial Youth and Middle-Aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution. He is the director of both the Hubei Key Laboratory of Exercise Training and Monitoring and the Tianjiu Research and Research & Development Center for Exercise Nutrition and Foods. Currently, his studies are focused on the prevention and rehabilitation of chronic diseases through exercise and nutrition interventions, exercise adaptations based on the functional status of autophagy, improving exercise performance, maintaining muscle quality, repairing exercise injuries, and developing targeted derivative products. He has successively received a Bachelor degree of Pharmaceutical Science from Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Master degree of Sports Medicine from Wuhan Sports University, and PhD of Biochemistry from Georgia State University in USA. In recent years, he has completed or is being in charge of more than 10 grants as the PI from the National Natural Science Foundation in China, the Outstanding Youth Scientific and Technological Innovation Team of Hubei Provincial Department of Education, and General Administration of Sport of China. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious international journals such as Journal of Advanced Research, Free Radical Biology and Medicine, Journal of Sport and Health Science, Journal of Neuroinflammation, Journal of Cachexia Sarcopenia and Muscle, Ageing Research Reviews, Trends in Endocrinology and Metabolism, Food Science and Human Wellness, Pharmacological Research, Oncogene and BBA-Molecular Cell Research and obtained high citations (Google scholar citations: 15807), ranking him among the global top 2% of scientists since 2022. He has presided over 70 international academic conferences and conducted scientific achievement exchange. Meanwhile, his research achievements have been successfully granted a series of US, EP and Chinese invention patents. He is currently the Vice President of Exercise and Public Health Branch of Biophysical Society of China, and the expert reviewer of the National Key Research and Development Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He is also the associate editor-in-chief of Food Science and Human Wellness and the associate editor-in-chief of Journal of Future Foods，as well as the executive editor-in-chief of Advanced Exercise and Health Science.

Chen Zhao earned his MD from China Medical University and his PhD from Keio University School of Medicine in Japan. He is a board-certified hematopathologist and a scientist at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals. His research focuses on leukemia stem cell self-renewal and plasticity.
