Horng-Dar Wang is currently a Professor and Chairman in the Department of Life Science and the Institute of Biotechnology and an adjunct Professor in both the Institute of Systems Neuroscience and Department of Life Science at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. Dr. Wang previously served as a Director at the Institute of Biotechnology from 2015 to 2021. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. degree from Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Southern California and did his post-doctoral scholar training with Professor Seymour Benzer in the Biology Division at California Institute of Technology. His research interest focuses on the identification of novel genes to extend lifespan and promote healthspan in Drosophila and C. elegans, and applies the anti-aging gene effect on neurodegeneration and cancer research. Several longevity related genes have been identified not only able to extend lifespan but also prevent neurodegeneration and cancer proliferation.
